In 1931, at the age of 16, Dwight ‘Red’ Harkins rode out of Cincinnati on a Harley-Davidson, determined to seek his fortune in Hollywood. Lucky for movie and popcorn fans, Red never made it to Hollywood. Settling in Tempe, Arizona, he used every cent he had to open the first Harkins theatre, a single screen movie house in 1933. With 90 years of passion for popping delicious popcorn, Harkins is the first movie theatre company to expand into ready-to-eat popcorn. ​
